26.5" Slalom Track Racer Custom Made Skateboard

A few years ago I picked up an old Sector Nine Cloud Cruiser longboard. The deck is a 5 ply timber with fiberglass skin laminates reverse camber single kick-tail construction. Having no use for a large flexy board like that and using the components for some other projects I was left with the dilemma of what to do with the deck.

I had a gap in my quiver and had always wanted a fun little slalom pump track board and this unwanted longboard deck was the perfect solution. It was thin and flexi to pump through craves and turns.

I set about cutting it down and reshaping it into a  26.5" long tapered bomb shape. It is widest just behind the front truck holes at 8", this provides the perfect leverage on the trucks for quick turns and maximum control. It comes down to 5.5" across the rear truck with a short kick-tail to keep your rear foot on place.

NOSE: 4.0"

TAIL: 4.50"

WHEELBASE: 14"

For the undercarriage I have Ace 11 Classic Trucks with 7.0" axle width fitted with Psycho 78A 70mm wheels and Loaded Built In race bearings. These are mounted on 1/2 to 1/4" tapered rubber wedge risers with button head mounting hardware.

The narrow Ace Trucks, soft wheel combined with wedge risers make for a set up that turn on a dime.

It really is a fun little board to ride, light and the reverse camber provides a bouncy and responsive ride perfct for carving around streets, car parks & pump tracks.

I painted it pink and made some stencils for the graphics. In these crazy times we live in and the Doomsday clock ticking away I paid homage to one of my favorite movies from 1964 -
Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb. The graphic is of a B-52 dropping love heart bombs and the major riding a nuclear bomb to oblivion.
